The BCMB has successfully completed the 2016-2017 Handling Commission Review (HCR). On February 22, 2017, the BCMB Board of Directors approved an agreement between Interested Parties and set new handling commissions that will become effective as of April 1, 2017.

The HCR process, conducted every three years, engages industry stakeholder groups, referred to as Interested Parties, in the review and negotiation of handling commissions.  Beverage manufacturers pay handling commissions to depots in Alberta for services related to collection, sorting and shipping of beverage containers for the purposes of recycling or reusing those containers.

The BCMB was pleased that facilitated negotiations in January 2017 resulted in an agreement between the parties.  The BCMB would like to thank the Interested Parties for their commitment to the process and their collaborative efforts shown over the course of the year.
