Karim’s Biography

Director Terms:

June 23, 2021 to June 2024

Karim is the Director and Operator of Beddington Heights Bottle Depot in Calgary, Alberta which has won industry awards for excellence and work in the community. He has over 34 years of experience in the beverage container recycling industry as well as a background in business administration, logistics and transportation.

Karim has represented the depot sector both as a Director on the BCMB and with the Alberta Bottle Depot Association. He has significant knowledge of and has had extensive involvement in all aspects of the industry, including governance, environmental assessment and policy development.

Karim is a graduate of the Director Education Program at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business (Institute of Corporate Directors). He is an active volunteer in his community, serving as a board member for the Aga Khan Council for Prairies (Council for Elders) Ismaili Muslim Community and as a member of the Birthplace Forest Steering Committee for the City of Calgary’s Parks and Recreation department. Karim is also an avid supporter of many community group and charity fundraisers and activities in Calgary.
