ALL BEVERAGE CONTAINERS SOLD IN ALBERTA MUST BE REGISTERED!

Alberta law* requires that all ready-to-serve beverage containers sold in Alberta be registered in a common collection system. Registration ensures that containers are recycled for a set deposit of 10 cents (container 1 litre and under) or 25 cents ( container over 1 litre), thereby reducing their impact on our environment. Unregistered beverage containers cannot be returned to bottle depots for a deposit refund and when thrown away, end up in Alberta landfills.

To obtain a product registration package and to start the approval process, contact the BCMB.

Alberta law holds manufacturers and distributors responsible for product registration. Alberta retailers can be fined up to $500,000 for selling unregistered products. The unregistered products can also be removed from store shelves.
